A monsoon of tears pours from my eyes to my ears. I roar.
They exchange glances, their bodies tensing with mine. “You’re sure you don’t want an epi—”
I’m sure!” I close my eyes, focus on my breathing. In…out.
I want the pain.
I crave to hurt.
A faceless voice urges me on. “Push, you’re almost there.”
It plops out. A lifeless stone. A ghost of a dream. My soul sobs.
They wrap it in a blanket.
“Is it a boy or a girl?” I need to know as I hiccup my sorrow.
“It was a girl. I’m sorry.”
Powerful and painful.
Nicely done!
Thank you so much for reading and commenting.
How can a man deeply understand such heart-wrenching suffering! Even if he’s seen it?
This is a memorable piece of writing!
Thank you so much, Nicholas.
Just heartbreaking Delphine!
Thanks Marie-Louise <3
The physical pain pales in comparison to the emotional pain. Well done.
Thank you Peggy, for reading and commenting.
Heavy duty stuff, well written. Visceral emotions. Great work, Delphine.
Thanks Paul <3
Wow. This shook me to the core.
Thank you so much for your comment, Linda.
You evoke so much emotion in not even a hundred words! I love “a ghost of a dream” and “ my soul sobs.” Good work!
Thank you so much, Ramona
Heart-breaking and powerful in equal measure. Great work.
Thank you so much, Dave 🙂
So sad. I understand the pain was necessary to help with the emotional pain after.
Thank you Pamela.
Very emotive and immaculately written.
