A Pretty Woman Came Knocking On My Door

July 16, 2024 4 Comments

By Joana Figueiredo

Lucy found out that Peter, her boyfriend and my husband, was married.

She told me everything. How they met, felt the sparks, and continued to pursue the connection.

I held her hands in mine, a gesture of comfort. I gave her my number and made her promise not to do anything foolish until we had the chance to talk again.

She kissed me softly on the lips. Then, she ran back to her car.

It was written all over her, the desire to be pampered and seen. I was her mirror.

I am already falling in love with my husband’s mistress.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

      Hi.

Thank you for your kind comment.

This was actually one of the first things I ever submitted to any journal/magazine.
