When he proposed, the sky was deep blue. A new life began. When her son was born, the sky was a deep velvety black, sprinkled with twinkling stars.

After that, life accelerated.

Days and nights, filled with joy and tears, clear skies and rain clouds.

When her son went to college, the sky was pale pink and orange with the light of a new day.

Life went on. Her son’s wedding, the birth of her grandchildren, retirement. All the accoutrements of a life well lived.

When her husband died, the sky was covered with pewter clouds. Raindrops cascaded down her cheeks.

Very nice cadence and a clever use of the changing sky to convey the movement in your character’s life.
