Different & Better

I slammed the phone. Mom said I was lonely, but she never likes any of my guys.

When I moved toward him, Bob flashed me an understanding look. Good thing he hadn’t heard our conversation. My mother questions every choice I make, but then ignores Bob each time she drops in to visit.

Bob rolled his eyes. I was so lucky to have him. He gave me support, respect, and inspiration. He lifts my spirits without speaking a word.

He swished his butt, reversed course to swim another lap, looking so handsome in his fern-filled aquarium. I really should clean it.
