Famous

Famous

By Katlyn Minard

Three minutes till I’m Famous.

I stride toward the building, my young heart aquiver with joy. My words will finally matter. They’ll dominate headlines, debates, academic dissertations.

My name—immortalized in print. Etched in stone.

Two minutes till I’m Famous.

You’ll search for me online, in legislation, in your yearbook. You’ll wonder if we could have been friends. We could have.

I pull the door wide open. Down the hall, a freshman opening his locker spots me.

One minute till he’s Famous.

I draw the rifle from my backpack and, steadily, I shoot. He falls. Someone screams. My Fame begins…

Now.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

I can barely sum up how awesome this is in under 100 words and look what you’ve done — artfully shocked your readers into thinking deeply about this issue, with an image they may never forget. Keep writing!

Wow it’s beautiful but why is fame and famous in capital letters? It’s good. Really good.
