Gold Medal

December 27, 2021 14 Comments

By S.B.

The crowd cheered on as Dennis entered the stadium for the final lap. His direct pursuers were far behind, and the gold medal was as good as his.

“I did it!” he exclaimed. “I finally did it!”

“You sure did, my love,” Angela said as she kissed his forehead.

Tears of joy rolled down his puffy cheeks. “Thank you so much.”

“You are welcome. You deserve this and so much more.”

The celebration continued, fireworks exploding in his mind. People say imagination has wings, but thanks to her hypnotic charms, his had legs.

Gently rocking his wheelchair, she deepened the trance.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

I like to think “imaginative” is one of my middle names, so I appreciate that.
