“I hope I imparted something useful.” Nic shook Elodie’s hand firmly.
“More than you’d fathom, sir.” Elodie smiled. “The past three days were worth many semesters.”
Nic smiled, letting go of Elodie’s hand. Something about the reply unnerved him, but this girl was the only one who showed interest in his life’s work. Other than his wife…
“Well, have a bright future ahead, miss,” Nic mumbled. Elodie watched him exit the hall.
Mom’s right after all, Elodie thought to herself as she stepped into their family’s time machine. Dad’s just socially awkward, not the cold man I remembered him to be.
