Ice Cream Trail

February 20, 2025 5 Comments

By Joem Antonio

She bolted. He ran. She was fast. He had longer legs.

She zigzagged through the aisles and displays. He kept pace with laser focus. She could run all day, but he couldn’t.

She suddenly turned past a corner, out of sight. An old lady quietly pointed him in the right direction. He tiptoed. Probably too late, but it could be worse.

There she was indeed, gorging as much ice cream as she could. He pounced and picked her up as she kicked and screamed.

There are worse things in life than ice cream stains and the whole supermarket staring at you.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

A fun read. Loved the implied joy in parenthood. Well done.
