Dalshia, my distant light,

I have arrived at my Uncle Eratribe’s property to find it in complete disrepair. Unfortunately, his bequest will require no small amount of renovation.

Even from orbit, my sensors detected that the water was polluted and the natural resources depleted.

If that were not enough, there is a vermin infestation. At first, they seemed reclusive and frightened but now they’ve become aggressive, attacking with tiny stings and bites. I will send for you when they are removed; however, it may be quite some time as I have heard exterminating humans is notoriously difficult.

All my love,

Baltenar

Oh yes! From many a perspective we are a nasty little species indeed. A good story and very current

I enjoyed this. Cool perspectives all around. Earth as a inheritance from an uncle, the sweet alien writing home, humans as a pest. Very cool!

First rate. Sadly accurate outside assessment of poor Gaia.

Thanks Mary. I wish it wasn’t so hauntingly plausible 😉

What I liked about this is that you took a familiar trope and made it fun to read about.

Thank you Jake. Yes, there are actually a few tropes buried in here, it was a fun piece to write and think about, especially in something so brief.

Wow! I’m a lover of sci-fi and this reminded me of ‘They’re Made Out of Meat’ by Terry Bisson. Your story is humorous and witty. Absolutely love it.
