I awake at three to the rhythmic click of my bag zip opening. I freeze, listening to gentle rummaging and stifled breathing as Michael goes through my things.
What will he say at breakfast if I confront him? Probably that I just imagined it. Or he’s worried that I’m cheating on him. Certainly not that his boss thinks I’m a mole.
Later, when he’s lying down snoring in my ear and I shuffle into his warm musk, I smile. I went through his wallet at midnight. And I found out a lot more about him than he has discovered about me.
Short, sweet and to the point. Great story in 101 words!
