Mycelium Revenge

May 28, 2025 6 Comments

By N.C. Smith

“I am sorry, honey. It is such a stressful time,” he said apologetically after a long workday.

I had been waiting for him and was ready.

“No worries,” I said, touching my aching brow and making sure the makeup still hid the bruises. “Would you like a drink before dinner?”

“Martini, please. You are the best, and I don’t deserve you,” he said, kissing my neck and sitting down, the fool he was.

I mixed his drink. The table was already set.

“Please enjoy,” I said. I handed him the drink and a plateful of delicious mushroom risotto with unusual fungi.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.
