I miss sitting in the restaurant, watching him and playing with the idea he had about me.
I hid my real face behind glasses and watched him fall for me.
He came to my room a couple of times and tried to have his way with me.
He was frustrated. But I knew he liked how I played with him.
Until he really fell for me.
He went nuts and stalker-ish. I couldn’t reciprocate his feelings. I was playing him to get over Damir.
But nonetheless, I liked him.
“Can I keep you?” He asked once.
I’m not yours to keep.
I like this, a lot. ” I knew he liked how I played with him.” – such a good line.
Fascinating – wild and confusing. She toys while he goes nuts: so much danger. The question “Can I keep you?” is getting very Norman Bates. So the italicised “I’m not yours to keep” is coming from where? The dock? By the grave? Beyond the grave?
hopefully not beyond the grave)) it comes from her,,,but only as an afterthought…after the whole story happened…the thing is, he didnt even need an answer…he was so obsessed that he didnt give a damn that she was taken and not his to begin with. he created love in his head and blamed her that she couldnt reciprocate
When I first read this, I thought the narrator was just an incredibly inhuman tease; but another reading made me look at it a different way: The girl had obviously been through some traumatic love relationship that hit her so hard that she was not ready to give herself to another serious relationship–with anyone. Good little sortie into human nature, Nataliia!
You’re very perceptive, Bobby Warner =) and thank you
