One-Star Review

By Ana Gardner

“I thought Valentine’s Day at Dracula’s castle would be fun!” Ava slammed the heavy wooden door and shoved a dresser in front of it. “This is the last time I enter an AirBnb contest.”

By the balcony, Daniel was tying bed-sheets together into a rope. “I told you that contract was weird. The must-stay-all-night clause? Hello, red flag!”

Claws splintered the door. “Look,” Ava said, spritzing her mace through the hole. “Howling and blood I can deal with. But no Wifi?”

“Talk about horror.” Daniel lowered the rope. “Express checkout?”

Ava kissed him. “Happy Valentines!” she laughed, and began to climb.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

    Brilliant! Fun story.

You managed to suspend my disbelief, but I suppose it is possible that there might be one domicile, somewhere, without WiFi.
