We used to dance all night, slipping out and getting wasted on Tequila. Looking for real life, something, anything. We wandered the streets in short skirts, boys on our arms, underneath the black velvet sky. Skipping school, riding in cars, we dreamed of a life far from here. We spent each summer day tanning in the sun and every night going wild. All we wanted was to be loved and to understand love. To know everything we didn’t. We made it out. We woke up from our dreams and now we’re on the other side. And that’s what makes us girls.
