Plastic Is Forever

September 6, 2025 17 Comments

By Maria Carvalho

2022: Microplastics are first detected in human blood.

2025: Evidence mounts that plastic particles have infiltrated every part of the human body. The implications are unclear.

2026: Research confirms that the microplastics inside people are causing everything from Alzheimer’s to aneurysms.

2028: The Plastic-B-Gone extraction system is introduced. People around the world flock to the machines to have their bodies purged of plastic, which is sent to storage tanks.

2029: The plastic in the tanks mutates, its prior exposure to organic matter allowing it to gain sentience.

2030: The plastic army rises up, cleansing the planet of the humans polluting it.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.
