The gargoyles stretched their wings wide to take flight for the very first time.
A heavy rain had just begun to fall. The ferocious beasts were finally free to see the world themselves instead of being locked in place with rain droplets dripping off their stone-cold flesh.
In their place at the castle were the formerly human guards. Rainwater spouted out of their gaping mouths, sealing their fate as the new guardians of the castle.
The pompous humans should have taken heed of the warning by the wise crone about the triple full moon that month, but alas, they did not.
Perfectly crafted. I enjoyed it.
Great idea – sinisterly entertaining.
