Astronaut Piotr Krawinski fights to suppress a yawn. He sits across from the representative of the first discovered alien civilization. The being had been rambling on for hours and Piotr could use a break.
He checks his watch for the umpteenth time just as the alien says: “…we are impressed by how far you’ve come. You are our perfect creations.”
Piotr straightens. “You created us?”
“Indeed, we did.”
“Why? Are we your experiment? Pets? Exhibits in a theme park?” Piotr’s mind races.
The alien falls silent for a moment.
“Because the Universe is empty and we didn’t want to be alone.”
Cool!
Awww yes, the monsters that loneliness can create… Great thought and good writing to express your idea.
Great story!
Aww. That was really sweet.
Well done, Martin.
