Zzzzz…in my left ear, always the left. There is no mosquito. I know that. The sound is sharper, deeper than this horrible tiny bug, as if something small were laughing inside. Doctors see nothing. But I know: in the silence, something stirs and whispers incomprehensible ideas. I tried to take it off with a cotton swab. I failed. So I stuck an iron rod, the one used for skewers. It worked…while I was screaming in agony. But as soon as the pain turned too intense to be felt, the noise came back…in my right ear, always the right.
Maddening problem. Great description.
