With her last breath through the oxygen mask, Ella whispered some advice that haunted me ever since: love again.

And I’d tried. There was mysterious Molly, rollerblading Rita, and even Dave from work that one time.

But I’d only fallen in lust, at best, and in disgust, at worst. No one compared to my Ella.

So, I waited.

Many years later, I ascended the stairs to heaven and pushed open the golden gates. It’s really that clichéd.

And there she was. Draped over a handsome stranger; an angel, no less. Ella had moved on.

No one warned me that could happen.

    Wow! What a great ending – I definitely didn’t see the twist coming! This was so fun to read a second time (and third time!) when you realise how important the first line is! This has such a great tone and I love your MC’s voice – with the fun remark about the cliché and Dave etc. What a great tragicomedic romance! Amazing job! So happy I was able to read this 🙂
