Let me paint you a picture to illustrate.
You just submitted a story and are anxiously waiting to hear back from us. A few days go by. Days turn into weeks and you wonder, “What happened?”
You write us to ask why an editor has not gotten back to you.
The answer? They most likely did—you just didn’t see the email because it went to your spam folder.
This is not an uncommon scenario!
This has happened to many people, some of which were selected to be published in our anthologies. That means they missed out on being paid, as well as being published in an actual book.
This saddens me because the solution is so quick and simple.
Please follow the steps below and you should not have this problem:
- You will get a confirmation e-mail from shannon@101words.org. Check right now before closing this page.
- Please add these two e-mail addresses to your contacts.
- If we can not communicate with you, we will not publish your story.

I didn’t get a confirmation email. What do I do?
- If you do not get a confirmation e-mail from Shannon, check your spam folder and mark it as “not spam.” Then add the email address to your contacts. See above.
- If the confirmation email is not in your spam folder, wait a few minutes.
- If waiting does not help, the internet probably ate your homework and you should resubmit your story.
What do I do if I don’t hear back?
- Check your spam folder again.
- If you do not hear back from an editor in 12 weeks, please e-mail us:

How do I read stories every week?
If you signed up to get our stories delivered, you will get a second e-mail. Click the confirmation link in that e-mail.
What about the Authors Only List?
If you signed up for the Authors Only List, you will get a third e-mail. Click the confirmation link in that e-mail.
