“Impossible to sleep!”
Our guest was referring to the incessant barking of our neighbor’s dog.
I told him about its owner, an influential bully—his cursory dismissal of our protests, the lone policeman of the village, (who was his stooge), and our resolve to let things be.
A little later he went out, returned soon afterwards and went to bed.
The barking had stopped.
“Killed the dog?” I asked him in the morning.
“Oh no!” he replied emphatically, apparently hurt by my insinuation.
I was now certain of one thing: burglars, even ‘reformed’ ones, seldom forget the tricks of their trade.
Got a chuckle out of this one. Liked it!
Thank you, Bobby.
Went to doggie heaven with a full belly?
Appears so. Thank you, dbpela.
This one sneaks up on you-i take it the neighbor was dealt with instead of the dog-how perfect!
Only the guest knows who went where. Thank you, Judith.
Fun! Thank you, Sivan
Glad you liked it.
Could your ‘guest’ visit my place : -/
Hope your dog is not in the manger, Usha.
Nice Story.
Great, thanks. I’d like that ‘burglar’ to visit my dog-abusing neighbour too!
