Lily sat by the fireplace sipping tea. She opened her book ready to step into the Renaissance era, where a knight and peasant girl yearned for each other. As she started reading, she petted her Shih-Tzu Lucky’s stomach and indulged in the novel’s romance and chivalry. Just as she was about to finish the first chapter, the phone rang.
“I wonder who that could be?”
“Miss Stone, this is Dr. Smith.”
“Is it bad news?”
“The cancer has spread to your liver and spine. We need to start treatment immediately.”
Lily hung up the phone and returned to her fictional world.
Nicely done, Lisa.
Great surprise ending! Great job!
Very well done, Lisa!
Lisa, your story draws me into questioning reality and how our thoughts shape it. Undoubtable your intention was to draw me into this journey. Dare I hope we have purchase round trip tickets? A deliciously dangerous story. Kudos! – Max
Very touching.
