A powerful monsoon rising from the Arabian Sea, which was a boon for far-off farmers, brought incessant heavy rains for three days in the coastal belt. Within the periphery of about five miles around Marine beach, hungry sea waves swallowed everything, including a nearby village of three hundred fishers. About two hundred were rescued and brought to safety.
At the rescue campsite, a three-year-old boy with a piggy savings box whined inconsolably and called mama, mama, papa. Even the most hardened hearts couldn’t restrain their tears when the boy offered his tiny savings to let him be taken to his mama.
This is a very moving story.
Thanks for the read, Derek.
This piece is somewhat unbalanced, the setting takes the majority of the words. The child’s situation and the reaction it evokes is where the story lies and is not given full development. However, I did enjoy this.
Agree with this comment. I also enjoyed reading this.
