A Hunger Down Under

November 19, 2024 4 Comments

By Antonio K.

Seven? No, eight. Eight days Marnie had been trapped here. She clicked her nails against the crypt’s wall. God, it’d already been a week. What were her friends waiting for? “A Halloween prank gone wrong,” she was sure they’d tell everyone. Jenna was an ass, but this was BEYOND.

She was almost out of food. Her stomach’s rumble, a clarion call; light pierced the tomb. Jenna and Todd peered down. She wasn’t sure what they’d expected, but by their expressions, Marnie gnawing on the corpse of the tomb’s patriarch certainly wasn’t it. “Ha, very funny,” she grumbled, “now get me out.”

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.
