A Rumor of Angels

A Rumor of Angels

By Mark Reels

His guardian angel sighed. How could he be protected from heartbreak?

She had just been nice to him. She inquired about his health and she made some small talk. She smiled and laughed at his jokes. She was nice, that was all.

But to his desperate soul, her kindness was like seed and water to fallow ground. Something took root and the fool called it love. She would be nice, of course, but he would be crushed.

The angel filled his memory with every humiliation and rejection he could find. The old pain was used to avoid a fresh, fatal wound.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

The hard part is knowing just when to take one last risk. A good, all too familiar, story.
