Scarlet had been dreading the first Zoom call. Everyone would see where she lived.
She did a test run with a friend and managed to find an angle that did not betray the picture she had built up of herself. It was either that or keep her video off, and the latter option would only create more curiosity.
This was to be Scarlet’s debut at the monthly meeting of her local environmental group, and she had already bragged about her ultra-sustainable lifestyle.
Luckily, with her desk by a plain wall in the old billiards room, she could maintain her micro-home pretence.
