“Hey, Sharon! What do you have there?”
I cringed, clutching the paper bag to my chest. “Oh. Hi, Janet. It’s…just something to cheer me up.” I avoided her eyes.
“A little treat? Well, you are newly single. You deserve to enjoy yourself with—whatever that is,” she said, giving me a wink.
I certainly did. I couldn’t wait to get out of my work clothes and pour a glass of wine.
I thought of Janet later when I opened my bag of delights. Imagine if she really knew.
A treat indeed—brand new coloring books just waiting for my pencils.
Haha, I can actually relate
I like the story and the ending. It suggests someone who wasn’t able to be herself in a relationship and is free to do her own thing now.
Wow that was cute, funny, and beautiful all at once
I like the suggestiveness of the title
My secret treat is jigsaw puzzles these days. What a wonderful little story, charmingly told.
A delight.
Come on, reader, whatever did you think was in Sharon’s bag? Agree with all the comments. That colouring book was the beginning of her freedom.
Thank you everyone!
It was a lot of fun to think about what Sharon had in that bag!
