The boy grabbed the key under the ladybug rock. The nurse looked up from her phone as he walked in, her bag packed and sitting at her feet. She rushed out the door before he could set his backpack down.
“Hey, Dad.” He touched his forehead to his father’s. He sniffed and sighed. “Linda didn’t change your sheets?”
One blink meant no. The boy secured XL latex gloves to his forearms with rubber bands and rolled his father on his side to wipe.
“It’s okay. We’re learning about the digestive system right now. You have to go, or you’ll get sicker.”
Well written – I could “see” the entire scene. What a good kid!
We never whst is behind closed doors.
I like the Slice of life stories most.
Sadly sweet, but such is life at times. Beautiful story!
