Alice

Alice

By Riley Sadlier

Alice wasn’t dead, that was just a rumour that floated around school. She was a horrible person so it was a nicer to imagine her no longer in the world.

Originally, she had gone on a trip to Palm Springs with her Mum. One story led to another and eventually she was dead.

I heard from one person that she’d fallen down the stairs at her beach house.

Of course, I knew none of this could be true. Alice wasn’t dead: I had seen her, just recently, hogtied to a chair in my garage.

High school can be so gossipy sometimes.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

I agree with comments already given. I was soul-satisfied by this story with its wonderful twist. And thanks for keeping Alice alive and suffering.
