All-You-Can-Eat

September 11, 2015 5 Comments

All-You-Can-Eat

By Richard Edenfield

My stepfather walked into Roy Rogers like a gunslinger who mows down all-you-can-eat salad bars.

“No way are they making any damn money off me!”

I calculated, at $6.99, he would have to eat about 20 plates for them to literally make no damn money off him.

His face was turning green at about plate 17. At 24 plates, he collapsed onto the floor.

In the hospital, when he came to, he was informed that the restaurant had lost 63 cents because of him.

Thousand Island bloodstains on his shirt.

A fork in his pocket glistened like a four-pronged six shooter.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.
