By Daniel Gooding

“I’m serious, that’s what you call a group of lemurs!”

“I thought it was a conspiracy of ravens?”

“Them too—maybe they’re in cahoots!”

Grandpa chuckled, taking my hand.

“You know, in Madagascar, they believe lemurs have souls—if you treat them badly, or make fun of them, they take revenge after they die.”

“What kind of revenge?”

Before he could reply, I spotted Mum and Steve.

“Look, there they are!”

Steve waved to us as we left the enclosure, muttering something that made Mum cackle. Grandpa squeezed my hand again, more faintly now.

“I’ll tell you next time,” he whispered.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

I liked that it was almost all dialogue. You pull the reader into the scene. Well done.

My young son would love this,l topic, as lemurs are his favourite animals. I might struggle to explain the concept though (!!) A nice, quirky one 😉
