The platform was deserted except for me, a guard, and some doddering old fool who shouldn’t have been out on his own. As a train approached, he tottered dangerously towards the edge of the platform.
I thought about rushing over and grabbing him, but what if he freaked out and pushed me onto the track!
I shouted to the guard, but my voice was drowned by the screech of wheels as the train braked.
I hardly dare look. But when I did, the old codger was standing next to me.
“Are you all right?” he asked. “I heard you call out.”
Nice.
What a great ending. Really enjoyed the story!
How easy to misread and judge by appearances. Loved it.
This made me smile. Such a sweet ending.
Loved the twist at the end, well done!
Very good. (Smiling).
Great buildup of tension and release. Well done!
