As I See It

July 10, 2023 7 Comments

By Bhoomika

On the left side of the street is a supermarket. On top of the supermarket is a cinema. On top of the cinema is a terrace. The terrace has green grass. The green grass is not fake. Fakeness is prohibited. Necking is not prohibited. Two adults in knitted hats neck each other. They press their masked faces together, their tented masks meeting like beaks of swans. The adult couple are old. Oldness is not a disease. However, romance can be a disease. Romance can make you bold. Boldness can get you killed. The adult couple seem to thrive on their boldness.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

I think of a dystopian world with a very controlled environment and harsh consquences for noncompliance. I liked the clipped pace and staccato feel of this piece.

An interesting way this story gets narrated. Sort of like it zeroes in close before zooming far out. An interesting effect.

People wish to get this disease willingly.
Sugar may be injurious to a diabetic but it enhances taste to that eatable same way this disease gives meaning to the lives of the normal people.
