Grimacing as the tattooist finished off his design, the young man smiled knowingly. His tongue explored the inside of his cheek. It was moist; rough! That was what his parents had said tattoos were.
“Where you off to next?” asked the tattooist.
“The barbers,” said the lad, paying up in full. “I’m having all my hair shaved off!”
“Phew…they won’t like that!”
“There’s a lot they won’t like,” retorted the boy angrily, “including the truth about their dear Father John!”
“No more choir practice then?”
“No more ANYTHING! Just facts, truth, reality! My pain NOW gets to be their pain…”
Grizzly…makes me want to hear the next chapter of how this boy gets his own redemption not just his revenge.
I agree with Tisa: This story sounds like a whopping good prolog to a much longer story. You really should expand on this one, Lynda. It has a lot of promise!
Yes, there’s real fear/scariness lurking here.
