Ned still drank for two.
He’d had a wife once, but she broke his heart. Now, like a guest at some odd wake, he sat next to her chair and thought of the nights they had spent in their bed down the hall.
When the clock struck twelve, Ned raised a glass to her name, just as he had done when she pledged to be his bride for life—a vow as false as her soul. Yet he knew if she walked through the door in that red silk dress, he would give her one more chance.
For old times’ sake.
A touching, bittersweet love story. Really enjoyed it!
