Bad Hair Days

January 20, 2025 9 Comments

By William P Adams

Jake never had a satisfying haircut.

At three, he sat on the booster seat in the barber chair and had a chunk taken out of his ear.

At thirteen, he asked for a Beatle cut and came away looking like Moe of the Three Stooges.

At thirty, his barber insisted he try “business in front and party in the back.”

In his forties, Jake found a stylist to his liking, if only for the relaxing scalp massage during the shampoo and conditioning, but she only knew one style—the ‘Emperor Nero.’

Jake went bald in his fifties, much to his delight.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.
