Beep!
A text appeared on Emma’s cellphone. She averted her attention from the traffic light to her screen. The text from her boyfriend: what u doing tonight?
Beep!
The driver behind her smashed his horn and Emma jumped, noticing the green light. She distanced herself from the traffic before composing a reply. Her attention fixated on her phone, she didn’t spot her stop sign, nor the truck already blazing through the intersection.
Beep!
Collision. Cacophony. A broken body in a car. The wailing of sirens guided Emma to the hospital where doctors attempted to stabilize her.
Beep!
Emma’s heart monitor flatlined.
A well written cautionary tale.
Great story about the dangers of texting while driving.
Wow! Amazing build of suspense in such a short form. And the anchor of BEEP is so effective. Thanks.
Good title and connecting thread in this cautionary tale.
Yes-s-s! And let that be a lesson to all. Nicely done.
