I awoke in the middle of the afternoon to find a cat in my living room. The doors were locked and it was impossible to get in through the windows.
I frowned at the flea infested tabby as he lay dead to the world. Always trying to slip in through the back door, he could only tolerate being petted on the head. He refused to cover his waste and would rarely groom himself.
Such an odd ball of fur.
Taking my coffee in the backyard, I found my neighbour looking confused.
“Hiccup’s missing since morning. Have you seen him?”
I shrugged.
I really liked this. Maybe because we’ve taken in a couple of strays! Anyway, smartly written!
Thanks! And I can totally relate.
Such a delightful bit of irony, Munira. I especially like the ambiguity in the phrase “dead to the world.” So many unanswered questions linger. Wonderful.
Thank you, Jack. That’s what I was aiming for 🙂
Wonderfully pixelated.
Thank you, Dante.
