Bite Size

By Emma McManus

“May the 15th.”

Two weeks away. “Suppose it’ll have to do.”

“2:30 Thursday 15th, then.”

“OK. Thanks.”

Holly was in two minds when she put the phone down. A part of her was glad that she had another fortnight before things changed forever, while another part wanted it over and done with.

Looking over at Paul, she wondered how to tell him. Paul, with his obsession about health and fitness. They had only been together two years. Would he still love her? Or would he be repulsed?

“Paul. I have severe periodontitis. I’m having some teeth out and dentures put in.”

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.
