Mary Pimento was certain her neighbour was plucking her bluebells before 9 a.m. every day. She caught the pretty bell brazenly tucked behind Edith’s left ear while selecting glossy tomatoes and papery onions at the farmers’ market.
On a windless Thursday, Mary drew out her chestnut recliner at 7 a.m., her granddaughter’s forgotten binoculars, and a ziplock of some toasted edamames and candied cranberries in case she got too bored with the wait.
“Aha, thief!” she squealed when she saw Edith ambling toward her with a cane basket.
After much squabbling, the ladies reached a compromise: only two bells a day.
Very nice. Your 101 words are so eloquent!
Thank you, Faith!
