The expectation is excruciating. Those aboard Elbib have spent their lives anticipating this moment. Generations have come and gone on board the ship as it careened through the galaxy taking them in the path of their ancestors. Their mission, to build a new world order of peace on the Blue Planet.
Now, like those earlier hopeful pioneers, they gasp at the sight of the bright blue arc ascending. The legendary orb waxes as they speed toward it.
Slowly, expectations wither to despair. Before them an ominous wall of weapons orbits the blue planet synchronously. Their ancestors had failed. Peace is unwanted.
Wonderful! The story, not the ending to the story. (It was a great ending, though.) The quest for a peaceful life goes unfulfilled. Wasn’t it ever so? This is a good one, Kathy!
Thank you, Bobby. It seems to me that we want to hang on to our group think and keep out new ideas. I guess that is what inspired the story. Plus there is the old ancient astronaut theory that worked its way into my thoughts. Glad you enjoyed it.
