Boy to Man

Boy to Man

By Alex Tolansky

“Look at the way he walks, all twisted and limping. I remember him when he was a boy, running about in the street. A real live wire. His mother always said she dreaded the day when an accident would happen. It was bound to, she said. And then the crash, poor lad.”

“What crash? Is that what they told you when you came back from abroad? He attacked a girl—did terrible things to her—so half the town turned on him. Left him for dead. He never went near the hospital for the shame of it. Deserved everything he got.”

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

Now there’s a guy/story with a real twist! Of course, the other half of the town thought it was the girl’s fault for leading the poor fella on with her low-cut blouse and tight pants!! Jerry
