Brad stood in the driveway and nudged the gravel with the work boots Chelsea had bought for him. He had a cigarette in one hand and his lunch pail in the other.
She had thought about adding a note of encouragement to the lunch pail, but she didn’t want to risk embarrassing him in front of the other men.
Brad kicked the stones again and searched the ground as though hoping to uncover some valuable thing that he had lost.
When his brother’s truck pulled up, she lifted her hand from her pregnant belly to wave, but he didn’t look back.
Good story, Mark. We get lost in our everyday dreams, and the demands of the day. But life moves on whether we pay attention or go our own way.
Thanks, Glenn
Good, bittersweet story. An excellent reminder to husbands (or wives) to appreciate their spouse a heck of a lot more than they do!
Thanks, Bobby
