The buzz grew louder. She pulled the pillow over her head and burrowed further into the mattress. After showering, brushing her teeth, drying her hair, the buzz still remained.
It followed her, demanded attention in meetings, accompanied her on the train. She bought cotton buds and determinedly dug around inside her ears. The doctor found nothing.
The buzz grew so loud it became painful. She picked up a pen, intending to wiggle it right out of her head, but instead she began to write. The buzzing slowly faded.
She looked down at the page realising a story had just been born.
