Opposite the campfire, he silently watched her features dance in the flickering flames.
Her main focus were the baby blue eyes piercing her soul, the fine lines surrounding his eyes, and his lips, slightly parted, displaying hints of chewing tobacco.
Their carnal love burned like the inferno before them.
Her friends and family babbled; their noise was faint yet constant, like they were in the distance somehow.
A brightness captured the golden glow, a ring on his finger. Inhaling deeply, her eyes fell to the diamond on her left hand, then flashed to her husband.
Once was enough, but never again.
I liked it. It made me hold my breath in anticipation – then the truth. Well played Nicole.
