Change Your Body or Change Your Mind ™

April 12, 2025 3 Comments

By Katja Sass

“Sorry, Madam, I need to press you for a decision.”

There are only two choices on the form:

A. Bespoke bodily improvement, guaranteed heightened dysphoria.

B. Complete removal of body dysphoria, guaranteed weight gain.

They’re the same price and I don’t have enough money to pay for a reversal. I’m already emptying my lifetime savings account in the hope of saving myself a lifetime of diets.

The slender, pretty advisor sighs, her full and bright eyes scanning my grey face, lumpy body, unpolished toenails.

“I’ll have what you had,” I say.

She hands me my receipt. “You can try, I suppose.”

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

Love this. Choices on form so true. Pick no 2 and have an ice cream on the way home.

Insightful and sorrowful. Tightly told story that resonates.
