Tom, divorced and 45, made it out with no injuries. Shelia, 11, was declared paralyzed at 10 a.m. The accident happened at 8:21 a.m. the previous day. At 8:19 was when Tom decided to end his forsaken existence. Tom started his car at 8:11. His head was swimming and it got worse as he bumbled to the car. He started stumbling out at 8:02. The bright morning sunlight burned Tom’s eyes and worsened his temper as he exited the bar at 8:01. The barkeep threw out the drunken, angry man at 8:00, so as not to disrupt the other paying customers.
A backwards 101! The effect of the numbers and times is ingenious. A harrowing story, yet filtered through time. (The time repetition reminds me of a great movie with Will Ferrell called Stranger than Fiction. I think you’d like it!)
Thank you Smila! I’ve heard of that movie, I think my mom has watched it once. I will check and see if we can find it on Netflix. I appreciate your comments and recommendation, I’m glad you liked this story!
Your choice of title was absolutely right on the money. Just about everyone involved in this made bad choices, and the results were inevitable. This is a Winner!
Thank you very much, Bobby!
