The lawyer stood up, wiped perspiration from his forehead, took a deep breath, and slowly approached the jury.
“It’s been a long week for all of us here in this courtroom,” said the lawyer. “It’s been a long week for me, for you, and for the judge. But it’s been even longer for my client. Look at him sitting there, bags under his bloodshot eyes, a queasy look on his face. You’ve heard his story. He is a broken man, and we all know who is responsible for that.”
Cupid fidgeted uncomfortably, realizing this wasn’t going to end well for him.
