Coffee Stains

Coffee Stains

By Xhaxha

You let me vent when I felt most lost after a breakup. Though gay, you were there for me on Skype each night at 2 a.m. when I couldn’t sleep. You wore glasses thick and rimmed with sand. I could almost feel the sandstorms in Jordan.

And then you came to visit me in the Philippines. We had coffee as though we were still speaking over Skype. But then you kissed me on my mouth. I could taste the mint in your breath. You slowly walked away and I kept the napkin you wiped the coffee stains with from your lips.

The Power of Imagery with Nina Schuyler

September 12 & 13 on Zoom
Enrollment closes Thursday, September 3 at 7:00 PM Pacific

If your descriptions are vivid but your stories still feel thin, this workshop is for you.

Join award-winning author Nina Schuyler to learn the difference between description, which tells a reader what things look like, and imagery, which carries plot, character, and meaning at the same time.

In just two days, you'll learn to choose images that hold emotion without naming it, pair them so each one deepens the other, and build patterns that gather meaning as the story moves.

Love is defined by what we leave behind; our touch, our fragrance, our taste, and the sensations in our being. Terrific work, Xhaxha.
