“Mornin’, Detective!” Macy chirped at the man.
He grinned at his favorite waitress. “Hello, Miss Macy. Coffee, please.”
“What’cha got there, Detective?” Macy squinted at the photos as she poured his drink.
“Robbery.”
She shook her head. “That’s a murder.”
“Oh?”
“That door is crooked, so it must’a made noise. That would’a woken him, so the blood’s wrong. The criminal just took stuff to distract y’all.”
He took a careful sip.
“Macy, you ought’a leave this place. You’re smart.”
Macy shrugged. “Oh, I can’t do that. You take care.”
Upon leaving, he realized he’d never said the victim was a him.
Very nice twist ending. Thanks.
Thank you too!
I liked the turn and couldn’t help but check the author’s name to make sure it wasn’t “Macy”.
Lol, thank you!
A great and chilling story. Good job!
Thank you, Bobby!
In 101 words, you manage to develop your characters very well, including accent, mannerisms, etc.
Keep those stories coming!!
Thank you so much, Smilia! I will!
You had me hooked from beginning to end. Loved the twist. Great work.
Thank you Lisa!
I pictured the characters, was able to be a customer right beside the cop at the counter. And – What a great twisty ending! Bravo!
Thank you very much, Crystal!
Just like Crystal I was so into Macy, her character, her joviality, her intelligence, and then…what a “murderess” lol….great job!
Thank you so much, Anarita! 🙂
